I found the inspiration for Down the Block while exploring Brooklyn with my Mom. Her family originates from Brooklyn, growing up she would take me and my friends on day trips to places she went to growing up. There was always a new adventure waiting for us in Brooklyn, especially on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. The best part was that we would see the same people she saw growing up running these shops and restaurants. This series takes you on a journey through the neighborhood, introducing you to those inspiring neighborhood originals and sharing their life stories of how they found themselves in Brooklyn. With my Dad being a videographer and sharing his knowledge about recording and editing videos, I knew I had to use those skills to create this series showcasing these incredible individuals.
